Subject: : Volunteering on Connecting's Suicide Prevention Helpline : Orientation Programme and Training
Dear All, We are happy to announce the next training for volunteers at Connecting's Helpline for those in emotional distress or feeling suicidal.
We are happy to announce our next round of training in `Mindfulness Based Active Listening' in the month of November. To know more about Connecting and what is it that we do at the helpline and what is expected of volunteers at the helpline, you are invited to attend an Orientation Programme on 1st November from 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The training dates are as follows:
14th November (10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.)
15th November (10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.)
18th November (5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.)
21st November (10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.)
22nd November (11.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.)
25th November (5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.)
28th November (10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.)
29th November (10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.)
2nd December (5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.)
5th December (10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) Attending all days of training is mandatory and there is a nominal fee of Rs 600 per participant. There is also a selection process before training begins and post training. You will be called for an informal interview and will need to fill in a questionnaire to be selected for the training. You could also choose to be there in other ways for people who are in emotional distress through some of other activities at Connecting. HELPLINE: 9922001122 ( 2 pm - 8 pm) {for those in emotional distress or feeling suicidal} -----Another mail from the NGO:AFSP [American Foundation for Suicide Prevention] conducts a programme annually in November for those who have lost a loved one to suicide {Survivors of suicide loss} - for togetherness and healing. It is webcast worldwide. This year's programme is on Saturday 21st November. {Early 22nd in India} Details are at http://www.afsp.org/ If you are interested in setting up a programme, you can sign up and a video will be sent to you by AFSP.
